May 31 (UPI) — Three people, including a police officer, were killed and four others were wounded in a shooting in Minneapolis Thursday evening, authorities said, including a suspect.

Frey vowed that his life, service and name will always be remembered by the city of Minneapolis.
“He was a hero, a son, a father, a fiance and an officer, deeply committed to safety and service. He would run towards danger when others would run in the other direction,” he said.
“Our whole city is in mourning right now.”
The city said A statement The shooting began around 5:15 p.m., when the Minneapolis Police Department received a call that two people had been shot at an apartment in the 2200 block of Blaistell Avenue South.
Upon arrival, the officers came under fire, but were able to exchange gunfire with the gunman.
Two officers, one of whom was Mitchell, were injured in the gunfight, and the suspect died at the scene.
The two injured officers were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where Mitchell was pronounced dead. The other officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
At the home where police were called, officers found two people who had been shot. One person was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A man sitting in a car at the residence was also shot. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, while a firefighter at the scene suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The motive for the shooting is unclear, and remains under investigation.
“It’s a terrible day for our agency and law enforcement and it happens often and it affects a lot of people,” Blackwell said.
Mitchell died in the line of duty as a recent law enforcement officer.
