Here's the ultimate measure of how impressive Gonzaga's nine-year Sweet 16 streak is: Only Houston (4) has made two consecutive Sweet 16 runs in this NCAA tournament.
Dyaisha Fair has returned to action after being sidelined with a possible foot injury. Hook. Behind The Orange Fair's deep theatrics, it wants to come back and win. If Arizona loses, it would be the fifth 11-over-6 upset of the week for both the women's and men's teams.
Tiasha Fair helped return to the locker room at halftime in the third quarter. Didn't see what happened, but the trainers helped her not put pressure on her lower body. The game was tied in the 51st over.
It's not a pure attempt at hockey, but they get the 'W' regardless. Caitlin Clark finished just short of a triple-double in the opener with 27 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds.
4Q: No. 6 Syracuse 51, no. 11 Arizona 51
Besides Dyaisha Fair in the fourth quarter, Syracuse needs someone to step up and score. It's usually Georgia Woolley (13.9 ppg) or guard Alana Rice (10 ppg). Woolley was 2-2 for six points. Rice hasn't made a basket in four attempts and is 4 of 8 from the free throw line for four points.
Caitlin Clark had her 10th assist. She needs two more rebounds to get a triple-double
Jax is now lit. They extended it to an 18-point edge over Kansas.
Gonzaga went on a 13-0 run to open an 11-point lead
FGCU girls 2nd year in a row 12 vs. 5 Can you pull an upset?
The 2nd half is underway for Zags-Jayhawks and the action isn't slowing down!
Clark is up to 21 points, but hasn't had a solid shooting day. He was 5-of-14, and 3-of-7 from 3-point range. The senior is clearly frustrated, and a 22-point lead doesn't mean this game is safe for the Hokies. Iowa has given up some big leads, which is sure to be on Clark's mind today.
The Hawkeyes are up 22, but clearly aren't playing their best basketball. Clark is closing in on a triple-double, but also has six turnovers and three fouls in the game.
Final: Indiana 89, Fairfield 56
Final/OT: Kansas 81, Michigan 72
The Jayhawks owned the overtime period and ran away from the Wolverines. They will play USC in the second round.
After Syracuse lost its first game of the ACC Tournament, Felisha Leggett-Jack said her team “has to figure out how to play on this stage.” No. No. 6 Orange 37-32 11 came back inside Arizona's five, but 13 turnovers are hard to overcome.
Clark had some highlight-reel plays in the first half, including this pull-up 3 from deep.
Halftime: Kansas 44, Gonzaga 43
An electric first half is in the books in Salt Lake City. Hunter Dickinson's 13 points led Kansas. Braden Huff scored 11 for the Jacks.
