DC-area forecast: Temperatures will be above normal this week

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

  • Today: Mostly sunny. Max: 54 to 59.
  • Tonight: Partly cloudy. Minimum: 36 to 43.
  • Tomorrow: Mostly sunny, white. Max: 53 to 58.

Since early October, we’ve seen a pattern repeat itself this week: normal temperatures and below-average precipitation. Highs are in the 60s or higher most days this week, even as averages go into the upper 50s. Dry conditions for most of the week, although Friday night saw some rain.

Today (Monday): It is a sunny November day. While we start the day in the 30s (even in the upper 20s in some of our cooler suburbs), afternoon highs will reach the mid to upper 50s and little in the way of wind. Light south wind 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Confidence: High

Tonight: Seasonally cool under partly cloudy skies. A weak cold front passed through the night, with a slight breeze from the northwest towards morning. Lows will be in the mid to upper 30s to low 40s downtown in our cooler areas. Confidence: Medium High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Before the last cold overnight, it bleached a bit. We’ll have lots of sunshine, but with winds from the northwest at times 20 mph, it feels cooler than any other day this week. Low 50s in our cooler areas and mid to upper 50s elsewhere. Confidence: Medium High

Tomorrow night: The wind is easy, but it is cold. Under clear skies, lows will be in the upper 20s to mid 30s in our cooler areas. Confidence: Medium High

in between Wednesday and Friday We will see a steady warming trend. A lingering chill is in store for Wednesday with highs in the mid 50s to near 60. Highs will be in the 60s to 65s on Thursday and 65s to 70s on Friday. Wednesday and Thursday will feature plenty of sun, with some clouds increasing Friday and showers in the afternoon. Nighttime temperatures will moderate during this stretch, mostly in the 30s on Thursday and lows in the 40s on Friday. Confidence: Medium

Friday night The week brings a better chance of rain, but it’s unclear how substantial it will be. The American model simulates heavy rain, while the European model shows spottier rain. We are leaning heavily towards European countries, but will refine this forecast as the week progresses. Friday night lows are in the 40s. Confidence: Medium

The Weekend Should offer mostly clear skies and somewhat cooler but seasonal temperatures. Sunday’s highs will be in the upper 50s and lows in the 60s. Lows Saturday night should mostly be in the 30s. Confidence: Medium
