Fire damages Dolphin star's Southwest Ranches home – NBC 6 South Florida

Firefighters are battling a massive house fire in South Florida Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill was the star on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at a home in the 16000 block of Berkshire Court in the gated community of Southwest Ranches just before 2 p.m.

Aerial footage from Helicopter 6 showed heavy smoke billowing from the mansion, crews pouring water on it and firefighters cutting holes in sections of the roof.

Crews battled a fire at Tyreek Hill's home in Southwest Ranches on Wednesday.

Numerous firefighters and police from several nearby agencies responded to the scene, including Davie Fire Rescue and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.

Bob Taylor of Davie Fire Rescue said the fire was contained to the attic and roof, but there was smoke damage throughout most of the home. Taylor said it was too early to determine the cause of the fire.

Taylor said there were no injuries.

Hill, the Dolphins' star wide receiver, was practicing with the team Wednesday and was not at home when it exploded.

A Dolphins spokesman said Hill left practice and everyone at home at the time was safe.

The footage showed Hill, wearing a white T-shirt, dark sweatpants and a boot on his left leg, returning home and hugging family members.

Tyreek Hill arrives at his Southwest Ranch mansion after a fire on January 3, 2024.

Although a large hole was found in a part of the roof, the fire was put out by 3 pm.

Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said it was unclear whether the family would be able to stay home Wednesday night, but Hill was thankful no one was hurt.

“It's very difficult for anyone to have their house on fire, but Dierick and his family are handling it with great poise as you can believe, and he's grateful to the firefighters who saved his home,” Rosenhaus said.

Property records show Hill purchased the mansion in 2022 for $6.9 million.

The 9,300-square-foot home has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a home theater, a full-sized basketball court, a large pool, and two guest houses.

Hill, 29, was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Dolphins in 2022 and signed a four-year contract extension worth $120 million.

The Dolphins' injury report, released Wednesday ahead of the team's game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, lists Hill with an ankle injury.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa told reporters he learned about the fire after going to Hill's house after practice.

“The main thing is that his family is safe, his loved ones are good and he is good,” Tagovailova said. “I'm glad so many of his family members are safe…we're thinking of them and hoping everyone's doing well.”
